ABOUT THE FOUNDER OF BESTSPACE

Melissa J. E. Laver

BA, LLB, PGDip, PGDip(Bus), MSP, Prince2

Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand

Formally qualified in law, strategy, business improvement and efficiency Melissa's primary area of interest and practice is now about recreation, travel, and when still training and consulting focusing on personal and professional efficiency and ease, rather than organisational efficiency and improvement. Combining travel, recreation and professional development is now her passion/career.

In between course and workshop delivery, development and training she owns and operates a bespoke travel and tour business showcasing the best (yet sustainable) of New Zealand.

Her career being successful enough to retire from corporate contracting, consulting, and the practice of law at the reasonably young age of 48, and ultimately have her extended offices and life in the best parts of the country, and sharing this with others.

Workshop and retreat locations are chosen to be in the most inspiring locations, or just let nature and the country wherever you come to here inspire and rekindle the soul and imagination directly when visiting here.  Tours, workshops and courses are run out of her hometowns of Auckland and Arrowtown/Queenstown.

In her professional career, the focus is now on individuals improving their personal and professional bottom line of heath, enjoyment, ease, achievement and satisfaction in life.  An ease that can be developed and is particularly required in our professional careers and personal lives when navigating  through stress and/or adverse conditions along the way.

In her previous corporate and business advisory spanning two decades she saw the largest inefficiencies (and bottom line cost) to organisations arose out of things like working under a sustained sense of load, general frustration, poor communication, dealing with difficult people,  and stress.  This not being good for either business nor the individual, so this training aiding both individuals and their workplaces/organisations retain good decision making, communication and thinking, and ability to find good solutions and insights at the time we need this most.

Outside of the workplace rest, recreation and travel literally brings new perspective to us, vitality, insight, enjoyment and often sheer delight.  It is a wonderful tonic, yet the real bonus is learning how to sustain this irrespective of condition.

Just like her consulting was and continues to be in getting strategy right, our personal and workplace operations need to be sustainable too (literally self-sustaining). Which they ultimately are with every (literal) breath, and the right logic, knowledge and perspective/insight onboard. Noting however our New Zealand landscapes, countryside and air literally being pretty breath taking.
