The case this book makes is that you have mental assets, and in businesses assets are things we look after, value and have good care and maintenance regimes across. Assets are also what we develop, appreciate and leverage for benefit and/or competitive advantage.  

This book outlining that we should and need to do the same with out own mental assets, the book also outlining how you can do the same with yours.

 

The book also makes the case for our mental assets (composing of various mental faculties, abilities and resources), each has specialist abilities, skills, strengths and weaknesses, and all of them together are just like a team.  They all effectively constitute what is our very own senior executive leadership team, given the critical roles they play in our health, wellbeing, physical and mental functioning and decision making. 

 

So just like at work, it  being important if we manage or lead a team to know who's in our team, what they each do, their unique skills are, yet also equally direct and lead them,  the same is needed here towards our mental team.  Noting also that the role of ensuring there are sufficient resources to operate well, and have sufficient encouragement, support, appreciation, and opportunities for development being what make for successful team development and performance.   

 

 So once again the book outlines how we can develop and lead what are our own team of mental assets.  Ensuring there is good direction, leadership, encouragement, development and appreciation.  A high performing team always yielding better results that individuals operating adhok and without good oversight leadership and care.  

 

Many practical exercises are also provided throughout the book as to how to look after, develop and leverage these assets.

In addition to the book, which effectively is the main course, there are also additional courses providing additional training on some of our specific mental assets, or team members.  And how to strategically develop, support and lead this team. 

The book and courses make the analogy that you, are effectively the Chief Executive Officer, (or President), yet you have these additional executive level team members, or senior management team members that effectively report to you, and carry out so much of your work for you subconsciously.  They how well they do depends on what type of influence they are under.   Again part of good team management and leadership is however to make sure your team are properly supported, looked after, directed and lead well particularly during difficult times.

Why this is so important is because our subconscious is always subject to influence. The influence not always being positive or constructive. Influence in the form of stress, frustration, disappointment, memories or trauma of the past, difficult people, illness, constraints, adverse conditions, all constituting typical influence impacting on us in various ways, and sometimes badly.  The courses outline that as CEO, it is you that have to look after and lead your subconscious team and guard against the influence of undue or adverse influence.
